Relief lifeboat

Mersey class lifeboat 12-001 Peggy and Alex Caird, the first of the class to be built in 1988, was on station at Skegness towards the end of 2002.

During her time in Skegness, she was called out on one notable launch in the early hours of 14 November 2002 to assist the FV Portunis, aground with three people on board in very rough conditions. Read the full launch report and news release.
