Skegness' all-weather RNLI (Royal National Lifeboat Institution) lifeboat Lincolnshire Poacher was called into action for the first time in 2012 on Friday (11 May) when a yacht became dismasted in strong winds.
The 28ft yacht Nahlin, with one person on board, was heading across The Wash towards Gibraltar Point when the wind, estimated to be force 7, broke the mast in half.
The lifeboat was launched at 11:15am at the request of Yarmouth Coastguard and found the yacht heading towards the approaches to the river under engine power.
As no assistance was required, the lifeboat stood by and escorted the yacht into the river before returning to Skegness at 12:30pm.
