British soldier supports Skegness RNLI in “Afghanistan to Skegness” marathon

A British soldier stationed in Afghanistan for the past six months has donated £421.30 to the RNLI following a marathon effort to run and cycle the equivalent distance between his base and Skegness.

Warrant Officer Edd Howard, from Skegness, completed the 5,562km (3,456 miles) distance without leaving his base in Afghanistan, and raised the money from donations from friends, family and colleagues.

Edd visited Skegness Lifeboat Station on Sunday morning (13 May) to present a cheque to Coxswain John Irving.
